Residual Charcoal on Making Tape - Exploration of Masking Tape as Surface
I moved countries from Dublin to Sydney in mid 2000's and as I was clearing my studio I saw some strips of dried masking tape that had residual lines of charcoal. I took them to Australia with me and began experimenting with masking tape as surface. Here are some explorations which lead to my MPhiL exhibition in 2013. My researched examined Irish national identity from migrants perspective - the image on the bottom left is the beginning of that visual research of the Irish in Australia. It is of the Eureka Monument in Victoria .
